Dermabasion and Other Dermatology Cosmetic Procedures

The French say “it is painful to be beautiful.” Perhaps they meant it in a philosophical manner, or perhaps they meant it the way it seems to be applied today, going through potentially painful procedures all for the sake of looking beautiful. This definitely sounds scary or frightening, so it’s really good thing for most of us that anesthesia was discovered!

When it comes to dermatology cosmetic procedures for beauty treatments, there are many to choose from. These days, there are procedures that are specially geared to target specific problems, or several problems combined. For those of us who are aging in this decade or in the next few decades, we should consider ourselves extremely blessed. Now is the time that dermatology cosmetic procedures can literally reverse the clock when it comes to the aging process, and make us look amazing no matter how old we may be!

The following is a list of three dermatology cosmetic procedures and a short description of what they can do or what problems they target.

Chemical Peeling: A chemical peel is a simple procedure that peels away the upper layers of skin. In doing so, it can make a person look much younger. It removes age spots, dull complexion, fine lines, rough areas, and it can lessen deeper wrinkles. It will take roughly two months for your skin to completely heal and show the best results of your chemical peel, but at the end of the two months, it is extremely worth it!

Dermabrasion:
Think of an extreme effective exfoliant, and you are on the right track when it comes to understanding dermabrasion. It rubs away damaged skin. This means it can be used on scars, acne, and wrinkles (it is quite good at lessening deep wrinkles.) Like sandpaper on wood, this will smoothen the skin by rubbing away old skin. When the new layers of skin begin to heal themselves and show, more radiant and younger looking skin is revealed, making the patient look younger!

Fillers:
When we're younger, we look young because we are characterized by a full face. The face naturally loses its fullness as we age, however, and this is one of the signs that we are getting on with our years. What fillers do is (as the name suggests) fill in the “gaps” or thin areas that were once full. These fillers can be applied in various areas of the face like the brow, cheeks, chin, eyes, creases, jawline, lips, and many other places. In doing so, scars and wrinkles are less noticeable and a much younger look is achieved.

Skin Tightening:
This procedure involves using an infrared laser, a pulsed infrared light, or radiofrequency to send heat through your skin's layers. In doing so, the skin is stimulated to produce more collagen (which is what makes the skin elastic and can prevent wrinkles) and at the same time, tighten the skin because of the application of the heat. It can help firm the skin, reduce wrinkles, and tighten sagging areas. It's a great non-invasive treatment which some patients claim to have used and seen results after the very first session!
